The Mountaintop is a gripping reimagination of how Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. spent his last night on earth, before his tragic assassination on April 3rd, 1968 outside The Lorraine Motel. After delivering one of his most memorable speeches on behalf of the sanitation workers in Memphis, an exhausted Dr. King retires to his Motel room while a storm rages outside. He meets Camae, a beautiful, yet mysterious Housekeeper. At first, they only exchange common remarks, but soon they start a deep dialogue about Martin’s hopes and fears. King is forced to confront his destiny and his legacy to his people. Winner of the 2010 Olivier Award for New Play and Broadway hit starring Samuel L. Jackson and Angela Bassett.
