Auditions will be held on Sunday, September 16 from 1:00 – 3:00pm at StageCoach Theatre, 20937 Ashburn Road, Suites 115 & 120, Ashburn, VA 20147. Open to ages 10 – Adult. (Rain date: Wednesday, September 19 from 7:30 – 9:30pm. We’ll post no later than Sunday morning if we will postpone the auditions based on the weather. In The Elf Who Came for Christmas, young Molly wants to buy the perfect Christmas gift for her dad, so Santa Claus sends an elf named Elliott to help her. Too bad nothing goes right when Elliott is around! Kids and adults alike will enjoy this musical filled with laughter, warmth, and plenty of fun!

Actors must be available for all performances:

Dec 15 at 11:00am

Dec 8, 15 and 16 at 2:00pm

Dec 18, 19 and 20 at 6:30pm

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script and a few bars from popular songs. Those auditioning will be allowed to choose the reading and song but must choose from those provided at the auditions. The song list is posted below the character descriptions. Sheet music will be available at the auditions.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS

NOTE: You don’t have to BE the right age, as long as you sort of LOOK the right age.

KIDS & TEENS:

MOLLY MACARELLI (Female, appears age 12-14.  Lead character, many lines.  Bright, logical.  A challenging role, with both comedy and strong drama.  Must be a good singer; sings with the whole cast plus one short solo.)

GINA RUSH (Female, appears age 12-14.  Molly’s best friend.  Energetic.  Comedy and some drama.  Must be a good singer; sings with her fellow teens.)

BEV PARKER (Female, appears age 12-14.  Tough and sarcastic, but a loyal friend.  Comedy and some drama.  Must be a good singer; sings with her fellow teens.)

ELLIOTT the ELF (Male or female, appears age 12.  Elliott is a boy elf but may be played by a boy or girl.  Elliott is optimistic but shy and prone to mistakes.  Does both comedy and drama.  No singing.)

BILLY PARKER (Male, appears age 12-14.  Likes to pick on the girls but secretly afraid of his sister Bev.  But deep down, a good kid.  Must be a good singer; sings with his fellow teens.)

 

ADULTS:

DAVID MACARELLI (Male adult.  Husband to Diane, father to Molly.  Likeable, but glum about Christmas.  Has a couple of strong dramatic scenes.  Some singing with the whole cast.)

DIANE MACARELLI (Female, adult.  Wife to David, mother to Molly.  Wise and patient.   Has a few dramatic moments.  Must be a good singer; sings with the whole cast plus one short solo.)

ZACH RUSH (Male adult.  Husband to Trudy, father to Gina.  Comic role.  Loves the commercialism of Christmas.  Some singing with the whole cast.)

TRUDY RUSH (Female adult.  Wife to Zach, mother to Gina.  Comic role.  Loves the commercialism of Christmas.  Must be a good singer; sings with the whole cast plus one solo verse of a Christmas carol.)

PATTI RANDALL (Female adult.  Widowed mom to Bev & Billy.  Comic role.  Complains a lot.  Some singing with the whole cast.)

SANTA CLAUS (Male adult.  The real deal.  Must fit the role physically (or with padding and makeup).  No singing.  Brief role but can double in other roles.)

PRINCIPAL KOBALESKI (Male or female adult.  Slightly dotty.  May double in other roles.  Some singing with the whole cast.)

EMCEE/STORE MANAGER (Male or female adult.  Hosts the mall talent show, and works at the mall.  No singing, but may double in other roles.)

JUDGE/MALL WORKER (Male or female adult.  Judges the mall talent show, and works at the mall.  No singing, but may double in other roles.)

CAROLERS  (Male or female, any age.  Sing as a group.  May double in other roles.)
