Follow the Yellow Brick Road over the rainbow in this classic version of The Wizard of Oz. Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion take you on a trip to the Enchanted Land of Oz to meet the Wizard himself. Developed from the ever-popular MGM screenplay, it contains the beloved songs from the Oscar®-winning movie score, all the favorite characters and iconic moments, plus a few surprises along the way.
Open to ages 8 – 18.
Looking for 16-20 performers.
TUITION: This Show Team Musical Theatre Class will end in a string of professional performances. Classes and rehearsals will include instruction in acting, singing, dancing, producing a show, and stage presence. Student participants will learn, through immersion, skills on memorization, characterization, vocal diction and projection, scene development, and other aspects of theatre in order to become stronger, more confident actors. Tuition for principal characters will be $800 per student; tuition for ensemble members will be $500 per student. Registration will be available once students have been cast. Scholarships are available through the StageCoach Foundation, Inc.
Auditions will be held on
Tuesday, September 20 from 7:00 – 9:30pm
Saturday, September 24 from 1:00 – 4:00pm.
at StageCoach Theatre, 20937 Ashburn Road, Suites 115 and 120, Ashburn, VA 20147.
Callbacks for principal characters will be held Sunday, September 25 from 5:00 – 7:00pm. Not all characters will be called back.
Those who would like to audition should reserve an audition slot on Sign-Up Genius and complete an audition form.
What to prepare for the audition;
- A 1-minute dramatic or classic monologue. Bring your own or choose from one we provide. Memorization is not required.
- A 1-minute classic musical theatre song, preferably not from the show, in a style similar to the character you would like to play. You must bring a karaoke track with you to the audition. You can play it from your phone or send it 3 hours prior to your audition to info @ stagecoachtc.com (no spaces).
- Be prepared for a cold reading from the script.
- Please practice this short choreographed segment to show your rhythm in dancing.
Bring all known conflicts. No absences will be permitted in the 2 weeks prior to opening night. Read through will be held at 6:00pm on Tuesday, September 27 in Sterling. Rehearsals will be held two nights per week Tuesdays and Thursdays (with the occasional Wednesdays to account for holidays) from 6:00 – 8:00pm. Two weeks of tech will begin Monday, January 9 – Thursday, January 19. Actors must be available for all performances.
Performances in the Ashburn theater will be held January 21, 27, 28, Feb 3 & 4 at 7:00pm plus January 22, 29, Feb 5 at 2:00pm. Livestreaming will also be available.
